Principal Reflections
AIP Review
In 2024, our school has made significant strides in achieving the goals set out in our Annual Improvement Plan, with a clear focus on curriculum, assessment and instruction, high-functioning teams, and positive partnerships. Through targeted professional development and collaborative planning, we’ve strengthened our curriculum delivery and improved assessment practices, leading to measurable gains in student achievement.
Our commitment to fostering high-functioning teams has enhanced collaboration and effectiveness across grade levels, ensuring consistency and quality in instruction. Additionally, by nurturing positive partnerships with families and the community, we’ve created a supportive environment that empowers our students and strengthens engagement, contributing to a thriving school culture.
Last Thursday, members of our Leadership Team joined with the team at St Nicholas, St Joseph's, and members of Armidale Catholic Schools, to share the evidence of impact from our 2024 plan and our next steps for 2025. It is always wonderful to share and celebrate the great work that is happening across our system of schools.
Celebrating Success
We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of two remarkable educators in our community. Deborah Rafferty has been honoured with the JA Sutherland Memorial Award, a prestigious accolade recognising individuals who have made significant contributions to education. Deb's dedication to nurturing a positive, supportive learning environment has left a lasting impact on students, staff, and the wider community. Her innovative teaching practices and commitment to lifelong learning inspire those around her, and this award acknowledges her unwavering commitment to excellence in education.
We are also thrilled to recognise Taylor Mavin, recipient of the Alan Kerr Memorial Award for Early Career Service to Education. This award highlights the exceptional work of early career teachers, and Taylor has quickly become an invaluable asset to our school. Known for her enthusiasm, creativity, and strong rapport with students, Taylor has already made an impact. Her passion for student growth and development shines through in all she does, and this award celebrates her promising future and dedication to her craft. Congratulations to both Deb and Taylor for their inspiring achievements!
It was so great to be part of the celebration, along with Taylor and Deb's family, at the Awards Dinner that was held in Armidale on World Teacher's Day!
Year 5 Leadership
It's that time of year when our Year 5 students commence their preparation to take on leadership roles in our school. Student leadership in a school setting is an important management function that helps to ensure improved efficiency and voice and therefore supports the achievement of goals. We look forward to being an active part of the preparation process to ensure we are set up for success in 2025.
School Fees
As the end of the year is rapidly approaching, could I please ask that you finalise school fees over the next few weeks. The school’s financial year is a calendar year and we need to report to the Catholic Schools Office by the end of this year. Again, thank you to our community for your ongoing financial support of our school.
Until next week,
Keep smiling,
Alison Hatton
