Level 5 & 6 Wonga Weekly
Week 5, Term 4
🏆 MELBOURNE CUP PUBLIC HOLIDAY
This is a short week due to a variety of events that have meant we cannot have our normal schedule.
📖 LITERACY
Students will be continuing their class novels this week and begin 1-on-1 assessments with their teacher.
We will be publishing our magazine spread focused on an ethical or sustainable business of their choice. These will be compiled into a class magazine to share with the school.
The table below outlines the Language Conventions we will be looking at during our Literacy sessions.
🧮 MATHS
In Maths, Grade 6s will continue investigating elapsed time and being able to interpret a variety of timetables.
Grades 5s will be using a range of strategies (using materials, diagrams, arrays and formal algorithms) to solve worded problems involving the four operations. We will be reviewing the inverse relationship between multiplication and division.
💡CBL - CURIOSITY
Students will be starting to plan for their response to the Term Four Challenge - Pitch a sustainable or ethical product to the ‘sharks’. Students will choose to respond inde
pendently or collaborate with a business partner. We are so excited to see what they come up with!
📗GRADE 6 MEMORY BOOK
A suggested timeline and high quality examples have been posted to your child's Showbie account under 'Memory Books'. They have been briefed on the expectations and have been encouraged to follow the suggested timeline where possible. We look forward to seeing their completed books in late Term 4.
The pages for Prep, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, Grade 4 and Grade 5 should now be completed. Students should be working on their Grade 6 page and have this completed by Sunday 17th November.
👜 GRADE 5 BUDDY BAGS
Students should now have in their Buddy Bags a toy/game, an activity book, an alphabet book, a purchased toy and a letter to their buddy. The final task of creating a name plate will be completed at school, once we know the names of our buddies. We will meet our buddies on Wednesday the 20th November. If students have not completed any of the previous homework tasks, it is imperative for them to do so as soon as possible.
👒 HATS ON
As of September 1st, we would like to remind you that our school adheres to the SunSmart policy set by the Victorian Government. All students are required to wear a broad-brimmed hat when outdoors from the 1st September when UV levels are typically higher.
Please ensure your child brings a hat to school every day to protect them from the sun's harmful rays.
Thank you for your support in keeping our school community safe and sun-smart.
