Library News

As we delve deeper into Term 4, we are excited to begin reflecting on the library of 2024! This is a fantastic time for our students to reflect on their incredible reading adventures, and we can’t wait to share engaging updates with you each week. Throughout this term, we will be taking a closer look at library data, celebrate the incredible books being borrowed, and highlight the wonderful stories our students are discovering.
We have some impressive statistics to share! So far this year, students have borrowed an astounding 31,989 books from our library. Our newest members, our Kindergarten cohort, have made a remarkable impact by borrowing a massive 2,389 books, averaging about 24 books per student! This truly showcases their enthusiasm for learning and literacy.
The hottest among our Kindergarteners has been "Pig The Grub" by Aaron Blabey, which was borrowed 23 times by Kindergarten students alone this year! In fact, Aaron Blabey was a highly sought-after author, with his illustrated books making up 5 of the top 10 borrowed titles among Kindergarten students. Other notable mentions include the Alpaca books by Matt Cosgrove, each being borrowed 9 or more times! We are also excited to see a fan-favourite, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle, as the third most borrowed book this year by Kindergarten students.
We encourage families to keep nurturing a love for reading at home by discussing the books your children are enjoying and perhaps sharing some of your own favourites as well. Remember, reading together creates lasting memories and can inspire a lifelong passion for books. Be sure to look out for our weekly highlights, where we’ll showcase popular titles, share reading tips, and celebrate our students’ achievements in literacy. We are excited to support our community in fostering young readers and creating an environment where everyone feels inspired to explore the wonderful world of literature.
Thank you for your continued support, and happy reading!
