We are excited to welcome Therapy Dog Eli to Chatswood Public School in Term 4.
Eli is a member of Guide Dogs’ NSW Therapy Dog Team and is being generously provided to our school by Guide Dogs and one of their dedicated volunteers.
Eli is a 6-year old black Labrador who is fully trained as a Guide Dog and certified as a Therapy Dog. He has severalyears of experience working with children in both primary and high schools (K-12) and also supports the Department of Justice in assisting victims of domestic violence.
Eli will be visiting our school on Thursdays. Several staff members have received special training in handling him and will be closely supervising his time at school.
Eli is a wonderful resource for all children and staff, and we believe he will help make their experience at Chatswood Public School even more special. If you have any concerns about Eli joining us, please feel free to contact Mrs. Walters via the office.
The Solar OC classes have been working hard to prepare surveys about recycling as part of a project aimed at improving our school’s environment and reducing litter. Last week, we published two survey links in the newsletter to gather our community's perspective on recycling. Unfortunately, some errors in the access settings made these links inaccessible to everyone.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could take a moment to complete one of the surveys this week to support our students in their learning.
Please complete only one of the following surveys:
'Little Moments, Lasting Change'
Friday 8 November 2024 is School Counsellor and School Psychologist Recognition Day. This year’s theme, "Little Moments, Lasting Change," captures the essence of the invaluable work our counsellors/psychologists do every day.
They have provided little moments of listening, understanding, and connecting that have supported students, families, and staff to notice their needs and strengths, persevere and grow.
Thank you to Shengying Bi and Cait Scally, our school counsellors! We are grateful for your skills, professionalism, and dedication to support our students. Thank you for your hard work this year.
Congratulations to Miru Le, who won 2nd place in the 10-year age group, and to Emily N, Lucas W, and Justin C, who all secured 1st place in their respective age groups for the Emerging Writers competition! These talented students crafted compelling short stories based on the stimulus of 'The Gift,' using no more than 500 words. Our students proudly accepted their awards yesterday afternoon at Chatswood Library. We are so proud of their achievements and creativity!
Congratulations to all CPS students who entered and placed.
Emerging Writer's winners and runners- up.
Supporting the Transition to School Video Series
Starting school is a very exciting time for children. They’ll meet friends, learn new skills and build relationships with their teachers. Almost 90% of a child’s brain development happens before they turn five years old. Skills and behaviours learned during the early years can help children to have a smooth start to kindergarten and throughout life.
This video series provides practical ideas to help parents, carers, Early Childhood Educators and teachers to support a positive start to school.
Watch our introduction video to find out more about the series. Then watch the videos that are right for you:
Supporting the Transition to School Video Series
This puppy is homeless. This spring, our charity partner Guide Dogs has over 40 beautiful, black or blonde, pure-bred Labrador puppies that need a loving home.
These adorable pups need dedicated and responsible volunteers to care for them over the next year, helping them develop the foundational skills required before their formal training as Guide Dogs.
Our amazing Therapy Dog Eli is provided to the school by Guide Dogs and was raised by a school family before embarking on his Guide Dog training.
Puppy Raising for Guide Dogs is a wonderful opportunity for young families to experience the joys and responsibilities of owning a dog, without the long-term commitment or cost - whilst providing a heartwarming and invaluable community service.
Guide Dogs provides comprehensive support to Puppy Raisers, including all food, veterinary care, holiday care, medications and access to a dedicated Puppy Development Advisor and local mentor/buddy.
