Mr Cameron Jones

Tell them from me survey - thank you!

We have received over 150 responses to the Tell Them From Me survey -an amazing improvement compared to just 10 last year! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your responses to the open-ended questions, and they have provided valuable insights into the common thoughts and feelings within our community. I truly appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey and share your perspectives. Thank you for your participation!

SRC visit

It was great to have a visit from Felix, Emily, Naya and Daivik this week. They shared all the fantastic work the SRC has accomplished this year, along with some exciting plans for the end of the year. It’s inspiring to see such positive representatives of the student body speaking so passionately about their involvement and contributions. I also took the opportunity to discuss a few ideas of mine that I might need their help with next year. Our student leadership across the school is certainly in a great position. They also shared some great tips on how to take a selfie.

Road Safety

As we navigate through our daily routines, one aspect that demands our utmost attention is road safety. Drivers and traffic conditions can be unpredictable, and it's imperative that we instil in our children the importance of staying vigilant and cautious whenever they step onto a road.

So, to help keep our children safe, families are reminded about these key road safety points:

  • Stop, look, listen, think every time you cross the road. If your child is aged 8 years or younger hold their hand when walking near or across roads. If your child is 9-10 years old always actively supervise them.
  • Talk to your child about being a safe road user. Reinforce safe road behaviours by being a good role model! Children learn safe road behaviours from the adults who care for them. Talk about what you are doing to be safe when near roads, in the car and when riding.
  • Obey Traffic Signs and Signals. Teach your children to recognise and obey traffic signs, signals, and crossings. Explain the meaning of common signs such as stop signs, crossings, traffic lights, and emphasize the importance of following their instructions.
  • Be Alert and Predictable. Encourage your children to stay alert and be aware of their surroundings while walking or cycling. Remind them to avoid distractions such as using electronic devices or listening to loud music, which can impede their ability to react to potential hazards.
  • Watch Out for Vehicles. Teach your children to watch out for vehicles backing out of driveways, turning at intersections, or entering/exiting parking lots. Remind them to make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of vehicles to ensure they are seen.
  • Be a Role Model. Lead by example and demonstrate safe road behaviour yourself. Follow road safety rules when walking or driving with your children and use opportunities to reinforce good habits through your actions.

Please speak to your child about these key safety points.

By teaching our children these essential road safety rules and modelling safe behaviours ourselves, we can empower them to become responsible and cautious road users. Let's work together to create a safer environment for our children and all members of our community.
