Art

Grade 1 and 2 students have been creating colourful and whimsical 3D paper toys, inspired by the playful artwork of artist Misaki Kuwai. Students learned about her unique style, discussing the range of materials she uses as well as the bright colours and quirky shapes that make her creations so fun before creating their own quirky 3D paper toy.

Grade 3 and 4 students have been learning about stop motion animation. Students began by studying the principles of animation, learning how to create movement through a series of still images. They have experimented with various everyday objects, whiteboards and playdoh to create movement and morphing stop motion animations.

Grade 5 and 6 students have been learning about the "Silent Film Era" as a part of their Media Studies unit. They have explored how technology has changed over time, specifically through the use of visual story telling. Students have been working on a collaborative project to plan and create their own short silent film, using techniques used in traditional silent film movies such as exaggerated actions and expressions and title cards. Students have been experimenting with editing techniques to enhance the effect of the silent era in their footage.
