News from the Art Room
As we move from many months of work for school production, we turn our attention to term 4 and all that it has to offer with an exciting Art Show planned for 2025.
World Kindness Day
Students have been working on some simple but lovely pieces of ‘Heart Art’ for World Kindness Day on November 13th. While we embrace kindness each and every day, these activities have been a good opportunity to stop and reflect on the small and random acts of kindness we show more than we all probably realise!
Roald Dahl Mini Unit
Students across all year levels are currently exploring the literary works of Roald Dahl and using his imaginative stories to inspire their own artwork.
Preps are looking at George’s Marvellous Medicine and making potions and medicines with 3D materials.
Year 1 and 2 students are creating giant houses for The B.F.G. to live in.
Year 3 and 4 students are looking at The Witches and making witch portraits.
Year 5 and 6 students are reimagining the design of Wonka products such as the Everlasting Gobstopper, as seen in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Donations
Thank you for the recent donations of class jars to the art room, we have plenty now.
I am always after patterned fabric swatches and off cuts as well as magazines with patterned paper such as Frankie Magazine. Please send along if you have any to spare.
With 2025 being an Art Show year, I will be asking for donations of specific materials so please watch this space.
Picasso Cows Program
I am very excited to announce that St Patrick’s has been accepted into the 2025 Picasso Cows Program. Please see the link below for further information and look out for our life-size like fiberglass cow that will arrive in term 2 next year (see example photos.) This will also form part of our 2025 Art Show as well as being aligned with specific artwork that is planned early in the year next year, with an emphasis on sustainability through art.
