Year 1

Year One had a wonderful time during all of the Book Week celebrations. From live performances to Author Visits, our students were immersed in all of the exciting books nominated for this years CBCA book of year award.

Our visit from author Jack Henseleit was an immersive storytelling experience where students had the opportunity to collaboratively create hilarious stories.

"We had a story maker come and visit us and we got to help him make a story about our teachers. The story was hilarious" - Sophia

"It was an exciting time because the story was about an exploding toilet that went everywhere on Miss Daniell and Miss Midson. It was very funny!" - Aaron

August 22nd was our annual dress up day to celebrate all things books!  The Year One's showed great creativity and dedication when creating their outfits turning our classrooms into colourful, character filled rooms.

"I dressed up as a dinosaur because I like to read the book 'If I had a Dinosaur' at home. I was a bit nervous to dress up but I had fun!" - Harley

"I dressed up as the green sheep because I really like the book. My mum and dad helped me make the costume from cardboard and green paint." - Esther

"I dressed up as Little Miss Chatterbox because I talk a lot! Mum helped me make my costume, we used string for the hair and cardboard for the face. It was fun and I won a book at the parade" - Penelope

"I dressed up as Hermione because my dad likes the Harry Potter books" - Zara

"I was the robot from Wild Robot, because I like how the character adopted the little animals" - Mila

To celebrate their outfits, the students designed their own book covers using themselves as the main characters. Enjoying the opportunity to imagine themselves as the main character in their own story.
