Congratulations to our newly elected Semester 2 SRC (Student Representative Council) students! We are proud of all the students who nominated themselves and took the opportunity to show leadership. Each class has selected one representative, and we look forward to the fresh ideas and positive contributions our new SRC members will bring to the school community. Well done!

Our new PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning) expectation focus is "I communicate appropriately." This focus helps ensure that everyone feels respected, stays safe, and has the opportunity to learn. Students will be learning and practising ways to use kind, clear, and respectful communication in all areas of the school. Sometimes students may feel angry or upset, but they are encouraged to do their best to T.H.I.N.K before they speak – Is it True, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary, and Kind?
Bullying No Way Week is Australia's key bullying prevention initiative for schools. It provides an opportunity for schools to create a shared understanding about bullying behaviours and share their bullying prevention policies and strategies.
This year, students will be learning about the importance of standing up against bullying and creating a safe and inclusive environment for all. The theme encourages everyone to show courage, act with kindness, and speak up when they see something that isn’t right.
At school and in our wider community, it’s everyone’s responsibility to help prevent bullying. Students will explore how they can be bold and kind by supporting others and standing up for what’s right. They'll also learn that parents, teachers and carers are there to guide and support them in building positive and respectful relationships.
Together, we aim to build a school where everyone feels valued and accepted, a place where bullying is never tolerated.
During Bullying No Way Week, we’re encouraging students, families and staff to take action: be bold and say something, be kind and support someone, and be proud to take a stand.
This Friday 8th August the Year 3/4 students will participate in The Carlton Football Club program, Road to Respect. This face-to-face learning program is for students in Grade 3 to 6 and aims to inspire young people to develop positive future relationships. The program aligns with the RRRR curriculum, which St John's implements, and includes valuable education around managing emotions, being a buddy, gender stereotypes, values, and respect. All critical lessons that have a lasting impact to help prevent disrespectful cultures and behaviours down the track. Students watch video messages from Carlton AFL and AFLW players, complete group activities on each topic and work through classroom discussions with trained facilitators.
You can learn more about the program through this website https://carltonrespects.com.au/digital-learning-platform/
We look forward to learning about the experiences and insights gained by students and teachers during the program.
