What is happening this week in Art!
This week in Visual Arts, Year 3/4 students explored the concept of colour mixing by creating a 12-colour eye wheel painting. This activity helped them understand how primary, secondary, and tertiary colours are made. They drew their own eye template, then used just the three primary colours—red, blue, and yellow—to carefully mix their own secondary and tertiary shades. These were used to complete a full 12-part colour wheel, painted within the iris of their eye design.
The 1/2 students enjoyed a creative lesson inspired by Andy Warhol’s famous book, ‘25 Cats’. Before becoming a well-known artist, Warhol published a collection of cat illustrations while living with his mum in New York — and he even had 25 cats living with him in their apartment!
Using Warhol’s playful cat drawings as inspiration, our students created their own artworks, drawing cats in all sorts of fun poses and positions.
