Commerce Stalls
This term, students in year 10 Commerce were tasked with running their own businesses. The class ran eight businesses and had successful stalls running at recess and lunch in Week 5 of Term 3. Students chose to focus on selling food for their businesses as they identified their target market as Evans High School 'teenagers' that enjoy food.
Products sold by the businesses included waffles, meat pies, ice cream cones, dumplings, potato on a stick, doughnuts and chocolate-covered fruit sticks. Students gained real-world experience in writing up a business plan, managing stocks, ordering raw materials and marketing strategies. Congratulations to all the Year 10 Commerce students for running successful small businesses.
Water in the World
In Year 8 Geography, students have been learning about the importance of water. Students discovered that there is a huge global water shortage and that millions of people globally lack access to clean water. Students participated in 'Mr Beast’s Team Water Foundation', a global charity that focuses on providing clean water to the most disadvantaged areas in the world. On behalf of the class, Mr Heydeman donated $25 to the foundation, which is the equivalent of providing 25 years’ worth of clean water to these disadvantaged areas.
