ENGLISH
In reading, students are delving into their Core Knowledge Unit, Australian Democracy.
At a sentence level, we will be learning how to:
-use interjections within direct speech.
-upgrade verbs within an argument.
Students will also be writing persuasive texts. They will be focusing on structure and persuasive devices as they practice following the writing process (plan, draft, revise & edit).
MATHEMATICS
Over the next fortnight, students will be learning about:
-Solving addition and subtraction worded problems with fractions (related denominators).
-Measuring and drawing acute, right and obtuse angles.
-Measuring and drawing straight, reflex and revolution angles.
-Measuring interior angles of polygons.
A SPECIAL VISITOR......
On Friday the 15th August, the Grade 4 & 5 students had our local MP, Libby Coker come and speak to them about Australian Democracy and her role in parliament. She also shared character traits are important to build to be in leadership roles.
INQUIRY
Students continue to work on their bollard designs for the 'Walk Through Time' exhibition scheduled for the end of this term. In addition, we are learning about the events that have occurred over the last 150 years in Barwon Heads, Australia and the world.
