Message from the Principal

Dear Families,
We’ve had a calm and positive start to the 2025 school year.
Last week, our community gathered for the Information Evening and Welcome BBQ, and it was wonderful to see such a great turnout. We also came together in celebration during our Beginning of the Year Mass, and our Year 3-6 students made us proud at St Therese’s swimming carnival.
These events were beautifully supported by our families and friends, a true testament to the strength of our community. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff for their exceptional organization, professionalism, and generosity in ensuring the success of each event.
This week, we continue our exciting work with the Magnify Sandhurst project. Students are fully engaged in both literacy and numeracy components, and I’ve had the pleasure of participating in lessons across the school. It’s been a joy to listen to the novels being read at each grade level, and I am particularly enjoying Year 5’s reading of War Horse by Michael Morpurgo.
Supervision Hours
Please note the schoolyard is unsupervised before 8:30am. There were many, many children on the grounds prior to this time. For the safety of your children, I am asking that they are not dropped off at school before 8:30am.
Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to all those who participated on the day. The winning house and Best Contributors will be announced at next week's Assembly. Special thanks to the students from SEDA who worked so hard all day and to the staff ensuring that the day ran smoothly and safely.

Principal Lighthouse Awards
This week's recipients are: Winter, Sadie and Camilla
The girls received this award when they were spotted supporting a student who needed help, showing respect for others, and acting with Integrity. They showed leadership and empathy. Thank you girls.
Amazing Murals!
Please take a moment to have a look at our beautiful murals painted by Karen McDougall.
- Our Cultural Inclusion mural represents the many wonderful different cultural backgrounds of our families.
- Our Multi Faith Community mural celebrates the Catholic Faith of our school while welcoming, acknowledging, and respecting, the varied faith backgrounds of the students and families in our school community.
- Our Respect for All mural acknowledges that our school is a safe place for all. Individual drawings from all students were done and then replicated by the artist.
Please take time to stop and have a look at them, just near the exit gates at the top of the school.
School Crossing
Thank you to the parents and school community members who have voiced their concerns regarding the Lowndes St School Crossing and have sent letters of concern to the COGB. I am so grateful for your support with this issue.
As a school, we have an additional staff member on duty at the gate to support students crossing in groups. Beck, our council crossing support, is fantastic and will continue to work with us for Term 1. If you park your car and wait for your children to cross the road, we encourage you to meet your child at the gate and walk with them across the road.
I will keep you updated on any new developments in this space.
Personal Device Policy
Thank you for your support with this new initiative. The students have responded positively to the changes regarding their devices.
Reminder: Each classroom in Years 5 & 6 has a lockbox for student devices, and Students in Foundation to Year 4 will need to bring personal devices to the office for safekeeping.
Our procedures are aligned with those set out by CESL.
I appreciate your support with this change.
