 📖 Fiction or Non-Fiction? 📖

In Reading, we have been learning all about Genre.

We have learnt that texts can be either fiction or non-fiction which means they are either made up stories or real information texts.

Using our Eagle Eyes, we have been going on 'book looks' where we scan the text with our eyes to predict what it might be about and to look for text features to determine the genre.

When listening to your child read at home, encourage them to talk about what is happening in the book, using the pictures to guide them.

Some questions you could ask for a fiction book:

- What do you think the book is going to be about?

- Who are the characters? How are they feeling throughout the story and why?

- Where does the story take place?

- What is the problem/solution?

Some questions you could ask for a non-fiction book:

- What do you think the book is going to be about?

- What is the main topic of this book?

- What are some facts/information this book tells you?

- What did you learn about?

🐟🦈🦀🐟🦈🦀  Patterns ✂️✏️✂️✏️✂️✏️

In Maths, we have begun learning about Patterns.

We are learning how to identify patterns in our environment and how to create and continue multi-step patterns.
