From the Principal

13 February, 2025

The Presentation Assembly last Monday marked an exciting start to Week 3 at POPS. We warmly welcomed our foundation students, helping them feel a strong sense of belonging within our school community. Our Year Five buddies stepped up with outstanding support for their younger peers, while our Year Six leaders beamed with pride as they received their leadership badges. It was a moment of celebration, connection, and school spirit!

SCHOOL REVIEW

Today, we officially began our 2020- 2024 school review process with our core review panel: Mrs Pattern (School Reviewer), Mrs Elliot (Senior Education Improvement Officer), Ms Meirisch (Past Principal of Milgate PS), Mrs Vesdrevanis (Principal of Donvale PS), Mrs Kupinic (Vice School Council President), Mrs Bullen (Assistant Principal), Mrs Quah (Learning Specialist), and myself.

Together, we reflected on the past four years, reviewing key achievements, analysing learning and wellbeing data, and discussing how staff collaborate to support student growth. It was a productive day, highlighting many of the school's successes.

The review continues next Wednesday, February 19, with a fieldwork day. The panel will meet with students, staff, and parents, as well as observe classroom lessons.

We look forward to sharing more updates as the review process progresses.

Bushfire At Risk Register (BARR)

Due to recent weather conditions, it's vital to note that POPS is classified as a BARR 3 school with an Emergency Management Plan, including procedures for bushfires.

If the Bureau of Meteorology forecasts a Catastrophic fire danger rating in our district, POPS will be closed for the day. Closure decisions will be confirmed by 3pm the day prior, communicated via Compass. Please ensure contact details in Compass are up to date for effective communication.

STORYTIME- GEM CENTRE

Our first Storytime session for preschoolers will be on Monday, February 17, at 9:00 am in the GEM Centre (Library). I will lead the session with support from the Year 6 library leadership team. All preschool children are welcome to attend. This session’s theme is summer. I look forward to seeing you there!
