Pre-loved Uniform Shop
We are pleased to announce we have two mornings where the uniform shop will be open:
Tuesdays & Fridays 8.30-8.45
If there are any volunteers who can assist outside of these hours, particularly in the afternoon, please let us know.
FIRE Carrier Commissioning Ceremony
This week our new FIRE Carriers were commissioned through a ceremony at John Paul College. St Augustine's joined staff and students from schools in our cluster to experience a Welcome to Country from the Bunurong Land Council followed by the commissioning ceremony.
Students then participated in cultural immersion activities through art and exploration of nature.
District Swimming Carnival
On Wednesday, 19th February, 29 of our talented Year 3-6 students proudly represented our school at the Bayside District Swimming Carnival.
It was a fantastic morning filled with outstanding performances, determination, and great sportsmanship.
We would like to congratulate all students who participated for their effort, enthusiasm, and commitment. Competing at this level is a tremendous achievement, and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of you!
A big thank you to the parents and supporters who came along to cheer on our swimmers—it made all the difference!
Well done to our team for giving their best and making our school proud.
School Photo Day
Say cheese!
St A's school photos will be taken on Thursday 20th March.
Information on how to order will be sent home soon.
Choir
Mrs L-C has been getting lots of questions about when the St A's choir is starting in 2025!
We love that so many students are interested in joining our choir! Weekly choir rehearsals will begin once auditions for the school production are over - hopefully at the end of Week 6.
Our choir is open to students from Prep - Gr 6. We learn a variety of songs, working towards a couple of public performances per year at assemblies and other school events.
Choir rehearsals will run each Friday at 1st lunch (11am).
Maths Competitions - 2025
We are excited to be offering students an array of different competitions to challenge students throughout the year.
Students in Grade 3-6 will receive an Operoo next week relating to the following competitions:
- Bebras (Individual or Group; Term 2 & 4)
- CAT (Computational & Algorithmic Thinking challenge; Individual; Term 2)
- Australia Mathematics Competition (Individual, Term 3)
Students in past years have thoroughly enjoyed the challenges, and the focus on mathematical thinking rather than number facts makes it accessible to all.
For pricing and to join in, simply reply through the Operoo!
Online Learning - Mathematics
Each year, St Augustine’s sets students up with some excellent home learning resources.
In numeracy, students have access to:
Foundation & Grade 1: Mathseeds
Grades 2 - 6: Mathletics & Times Table Rock Stars
Students should regularly access content to support their classroom learning and practice retrieving and rehearsing previously taught skills.
Each assembly, we will recognize the outstanding performances of classes with the illustrious Mathletics & Mathseeds trophies.
For login details, please see your Classroom Teachers.
Keep crunching those numbers!!!
Mr Thomas
Ciao!
Ciao a tutti! è così bello rivedervi tutti per l'italiano!
Hello everyone! It is so lovely to see everyone back in Italian!
We have jumped straight back into learning new Italian phrases this term, and everyone seems to be so excited.
With a Term 1 school wide focus on presenting ourselves in Italian, our kids have eagerly participated in all lessons, and have learnt their basic greetings and introductions swiftly.
Senior grades have started by learning their Italian greetings, asking their classmates how they are, and learning how to respond with how they’re feeling. They have also started learning how to introduce themselves and ask others their names.
Our Juniors have begun with saying hello and goodbye to each other, as well as how to say their names in Italian.
Signora Davies has been so pleased with St A’s willingness to jump back into Italian and is excited to see what our Italian conversations will be like by the end of this term!
Bravi tutti!
