Principal's Report

Dear St A’s Community,
I hope this newsletter finds you well! St A's has been buzzing with activity this past 2 weeks!
Parent/Teacher Meetings
My thanks to all staff and parents who participated in the Parent/Teacher meetings that occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Teachers and parents had genuine discussions regarding how best to assist our children to maximise their learning this year. Thank you to all those families that attended.
Building community is at the heart of student learning and engagement. Students who feel a sense of belonging and connectedness to their community shine and flourish. The environment we create together in partnership provides strong messages to our students that they are important and belong to a positive, caring and brilliant place of learning, discovering and growing. The more we work together the better the outcomes for all the students in our care!
Classroom Helpers
We need you!! We are hoping to re-vitalise our Classroom Helpers’ program in 2025. All volunteers are required to have a valid Working With Children’s Check (WWCC) to assist at our school. If you have a WWCC card, please visit the office and Megan or Nicole will copy your details into our system. Watch out in future newsletters for more information on Classroom Helper training sessions.
Prep 2026
I know this sounds early, however we have begun the Prep tours for 2026! With limited spaces, I need to ensure that all of our siblings have a spot in Prep for the 2026, before I can accept any other new families. If you have a child starting Prep in 2026, please email principal@safranksth.catholic.edu
and let me know by stating your child's name and date of birth. This way a spot can be held!
As you maybe be aware we have been upgrading our prep spaces and will continue to do so as the term progresses.
Fire Carriers
Congratulations to our new Fire Carriers that were inducted to the program yesterday at JPC! The aim of the FIRE (Friends Igniting Reconciliation through Education) Carrier Project is to promote respect, fairness and inclusion for Aboriginal people. To be a FIRE Carrier is to exercise an important leadership role in the school community. FIRE carriers are students and teachers that share a passion for learning about Aboriginal culture and history and are committed to sharing this knowledge and promoting reconciliation within and beyond the school community.
Well done to Mrs Chrissie Ritchie who was our teacher that was also inducted!
Congratulations to the amazing students who really wanted to be part of the program! We are so proud to have you as part of the St A's community. We are excited to see the continued impact of the Fire Carriers program on our school and by empowering student leaders, we are creating a brighter future for our school and our community.
Staying Healthy and Happy at St A's
At St A's we believe that a healthy body and mind are essential for student success. Here are a few tips and reminders to help our students thrive:
- Healthy Eating: Encourage your child to make healthy choices at lunch and snack time.
- Physical Activity: Remember to encourage your child to get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day.
- Mental Well-being: St A's is committed to supporting the mental health of our students. If your child is struggling, please reach out to our wellbeing or diversity team.
- Important Reminder: Please remember to keep your child home from school if they are feeling sick. This will help prevent the spread of illness and keep our school community healthy. There has been quite a number of sick children sent home over the past 2 weeks - with gastro like symptoms as well as COVID
Show Grace, Be the joy for others and God Bless.
