Fuelling Our Bodies: A Tasty Lesson on Healthy Eating

This term in Integrated Studies, our Grade 3/4 students have been learning all about healthy foods and nutrition! This week, they explored the different roles food plays in keeping our bodies strong, learning about fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals—and why each is important for a balanced diet.

Students also examined nutritional information labels on food packaging, discovering how to identify key nutrients and make informed choices about what they eat. To put their learning into action, they created lists of healthy foods and surveyed their classmates to find out which foods were the most popular. Finally, they used their data to create graphs, displaying the results in a clear and creative way.

This hands-on activity helped students develop their understanding of nutrition, data collection, and graphing skills, all while encouraging them to make healthy food choices!
