Parent Conferences & Information Night
Thank you to the many families who have made the time and effort (we know it's not always easy to coordinate!) to attend the family conferences this week.
We had 85% of families attend on the night and I know many others who have been part of student support group meetings prior to the night. The strong commitment from parents and families at RNPS to understand and support their children's growth at school is always one of the key contributing factors to what makes our school so special.
Having discussed with teachers some of the new information that has been shared, it is so valuable for us as a school to focus on trying our very best to understand each child's individual strengths and challenges.
Remember, that you can always request further communication or meetings with your child's teacher. Make requests via email using Compass or, for small matters, a quick word before the morning bell or after the finishing bell can be effective, too.
Parent Information Nights are being held next week on Monday, February 24.
* Prep & Years 3/4 @ 5.30pm-6.15pm
* Years 1/2 & Years 5/6 @ 6.30pm - 7.15pm
We encourage all families to attend the Information Nights next week on Monday. This year, we are aiming to build on our sessions from last year and give a more comprehensive overview of how learning areas change as your child moves through the school and provide clarity and direction about how you can support your child's learning at home.
We are also very grateful to members of our School Council who will speak briefly at each meeting, too.
There will be a follow-up information night held in Term 3, to again help families feel better-informed and confident about what children are learning and how they can be supported at home.
Parents and Friends Association (PFA)
A massive thank you to our PFA who held their Annual General Meeting on Tuesday this week. It was a great turnout with lots of enthusiastic parents involved, sharing ideas and trying to think of new and exciting ways to give back to the community and support the school as we support the students.
It wasn't so long ago that I attended one of these meetings with just 3 parents in attendance, 2 of whom had been planning on quitting. In a few short years since the PFA put out a call to arms, the change has been phenomenal and we have over a dozen heavily-involved parents, with new parents joining all the time and many more dozens who donate time, resources, skills and effort for the various events and activities PFA organise.
An extra thank you to those PFA members who have accepted office bearer positions, too.
There is no doubt that all students benefit from the commitment and dedication of these parents. Thank you!
Prep 2026: Parent Tours Open
It never stops! On Monday, we will start sending out invitations to families who have enquired about starting Prep in 2026.
If you have a child who will start at RNPS in 2026, please let the office know so that we can include you in all the reminders and information for kinder parents. Of course, you don't need to do another tour if you're familiar with the school, but if you have friends who are looking at schools now, please encourage them to contact RNPS and arrange a tour or request some information. We rely heavily on word of mouth from current families to encourage new families to join our school so your conversations at parks, playgrounds and kinder pick-ups can make a huge difference.
I strongly believe that RNPS offers a truly excellent education that values the whole child and supports everyone to grow in their learning and wellbeing.
