Religious Education

Welcome back!
It has been a wonderful start to the year so far as we gathered together for our beginning of year Mass with students from Year 1 to Year 6. We extend our sincere thanks to Fr Stephen for leading us in this special celebration and helping us begin the year with faith, hope, and a sense of belonging. We look forward to continuing to grow in our understanding of God’s love and living out our faith in our daily actions throughout the year.
There are two important dates to add to your calendar for the next fortnight if you would like to join us:
Shrove Tuesday on Tuesday 17th February
We will hold our annual pancake breakfast for everyone to enjoy before school (more information to come)
Ash Wednesday on Wednesday 18th of February
Our next Whole School Mass, which families are warmly welcome to attend.
Important Sacramental Dates for 2026
Last year, we invited families to provide feedback about preferred days for Sacraments in 2026. Many families indicated that weekend celebrations would allow them to fully participate in these important faith based milestones and celebrations. We thank all families for their input and for supporting our students as we guide them in their faith journey.
Please take note of the key sacramental dates for 2026.
- Year 3 - Sacrament of Reconciliation - Term 2, Week 2, over multiple mornings from 27th April to 1st May
- Year 4 - Sacrament of First Eucharist - Wednesday 29th July at 6:30pm or Sunday 2nd August at 2:30pm.
- Year 6 - Sacrament of Confirmation - Sunday 11th October
Gospel Reflection - Sunday 8th of February
Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Gospel Reading
Jesus teaches that his disciples are to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
❤️Family Connection
The widespread use of electricity in our society may make us less aware of the value and importance of light. To re-engage with the power of the metaphor that Jesus offers, gather your family in a darkened room. Bring only one flashlight.
📅Family Activity
Sit together for a minute and consider what you are able to do and see in so little light. You might try opening the Bible to see whether you can read today’s Gospel. Turn on the flashlight and experiment to see how one might use it to achieve the greatest amount of light. Then read today’s Gospel by the light of the flashlight. Ask everyone to consider what it means to say that Christians are to be the light of the world. How might your family act in a way that is a light for others, a light that is worthy to put on a lamp stand?
Choose one thing that your family will do this week to show that you are the light of the world. You might choose to participate in an activity that your parish sponsors, such as help with a food pantry.
🙏Pray Together as a Family
Loving God,
Thank you for the gift of your light in our lives.Help us to shine that light for others through our words and actions.Guide our family to be a light in our home, our school, and our community,so that others may see your love and goodness.
Amen.
May God bless,
