International Baccalaureate 

For the past year the Saltwater team have been fortunate to work with international educator, author and consultant, Trevor MacKenzie, renowned for his expertise in inquiry based learning.

During the first two Curriculum Days, all staff learned about Trevor’s work and deepened our understanding of the PYP. Our big question for 2026 is, How can we effectively apply inquiry based learning approaches to promote student and teacher choice, voice and agency?

One of the pieces of work that resonated with all of our team, was around belonging and othering. The Oxford Review states that, ‘Belonging encompasses feeling valued, respected, and understood for one's unique identity, background, and contributions.’ We read from the book, Design for Belonging: How to Build Inclusion and Collaboration in Your Communities by Susie Wise.
