Attendance

Dear families,
Welcome to the new school year! We hope you’ve had a restful break and are looking forward to another great year of learning at Williamstown North Primary School. We’re excited to have everyone back and ready for the year ahead.
As we begin the year, we’d like to share a few important reminders about school attendance and how we work together to support every child’s learning.
It is the responsibility of parents and carers to log their child’s absence on Compass whenever they are away from school. Absences can be logged directly through Compass, and if you need any assistance with this, our office staff are very happy to help show you how.
If your child is marked absent without an explanation on Compass, you will receive a text message on the same day. This is simply a prompt to log the absence. If you receive a message and believe your child is already at school, please contact the school immediately so we can follow this up.
If you are planning a family holiday, please log the dates on Compass in advance if possible. The school can support you with this if you’re unsure how to do it. It’s also important to let your child’s classroom teacher know the holiday dates as soon as possible, as they will provide an Absence Learning Plan to help your child stay connected with their learning while they are away.
We also encourage all families to aim for arriving at school on time each day. Every day matters, and being on time helps children settle in and start the day calmly and confidently.
If your child is experiencing school refusal or separation anxiety, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Matt Feeley, our Wellbeing and Attendance Leading Teacher, for support.
If you have any further questions, please speak with a member of our Wellbeing Team or contact the school office.
We’re looking forward to a positive and successful year together.
Kind regards,
Matt Feeley, Jonathon Skipworth and Crissy Samaras.
