Principal's Report

Dear HPS Community,

Happy Harmony Day! It was great to see so many splashes of orange around the school today as we acknowledged a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. Thank you to our SRC group who have highlighted and organised recognition of this important event.

Goal Setting Conferences

It was wonderful to see and feel the vibrancy around the school on Tuesday and Wednesday as teachers, students and parents/carers came together to celebrate and discuss next steps to support student growth and progress.

It really is a very special part of our job to be able to connect with families and all join together to work collectively on the learning and well being of each child.

Student involvement in the conferences was high which was so encouraging and exciting to see. When school's build effective and collaborative partnerships with parents, it can significantly shape the education and wellbeing outcomes of their learners. Consistent and genuine communication with parents, particularly small moments of connection, can help to build mutually beneficial partnerships between parents and teachers.

We thank everyone for the time and effort they put into ensuring successful and meaningful discussions and connections were made to support student's learning

School Council

Last week I was able to announce our newest school council members. I am pleased to be able to inform you that we have been able to fill one of the remaining vacant places for the parent member category.  We welcome Andrew Wong on to our school council.

There is still one vacancy so if you are still considering joining, please reach out with any questions to help you determine if it achievable or not for you to come aboard.

Staffing

We are very excited for Anouka Hoppmann-Smith and partner Chris as they eagerly await the arrival of their first child! Anouka will finish work at the end of term and we wish her all the very best on the baby's arrival and her journey into parenthood.

We are very pleased to announce that Mr Chris Roberts will take over for Anouka.

Chris has been a regular casual relief teacher (CRT) at Heidelberg Primary School over the past few years and is already acquainted with school expectations and processes. We welcome Chris into his role as Year 4- Room 7 teacher for the remainder of the year.

Thank you to everyone for the care and concern they have shown me regarding my knee injury. Your empathy and compassion has been gratefully noted and received.

I will have day surgery to repair a torn meniscus next week and will take the rest of the week off to recover.

As my wonderfully capable assistant principals, Helen Thomas and Monique Rankin will be sure to take great care of the school in my absence.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend and a great week ahead!
