Harmony Week

From the 17th until the 21st March, we celebrated Harmony Week at Pakenham Secondary College. The week started with a brief lesson in every class about the significance of Harmony Day. Throughout the week, our College Captains shared daily positive and affirming messages to all students and students participated in a scavenger hunt, following clues on cultural posters displayed around the College. Those who answered all 10 questions correctly earned a ticket to our very first "Melting Pot Buffet" Food Fair, held on Harmony Day, Thursday, 21st March. We invited our community to contribute special dishes from their cultures and we were treated to an incredible variety of food from countries around the globe.

In addition, we hosted an Indigenous Art activity, enjoyed amazing traditional Samoan dances performed by Annarosa Finau and Emma Panipasa and offered cultural movies during lunchtime on Friday.  We also acknowledged Ramadan by providing Prayer Rooms/spaces for those fasting and practicing each day.

A big thank you to all the amazing staff and students who participated and helped with the activities throughout the week and a special thank you to our fantastic families and staff who prepared such outstanding food for our Food Fair.

Year 11 'Level Up'

On Wednesday, 26th March, our Year 11 students participated in a 'Level Up' Day. They began the day with valuable insights into careers and an introduction to how VTAC (the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre) works. Students then took part in engaging activities, including a fun challenge to guess teachers' quotes, followed by an inspiring speech from our very own Ms Mulama, who shared her incredible career journey.

In the afternoon, students had the opportunity to choose from a variety of activities, such as crocheting, performing arts, soccer, mindful colouring, and volleyball.

We hope our students enjoyed their special day and found it informative and inspiring as they navigate their career pathways.
