Boarding

As we approach the conclusion of Term 1, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the dedication and hard work that the girls have demonstrated during their end-of-term assessments. It has been truly encouraging to observe their focused effort during prep sessions, as well as their willingness to devote additional time over the weekends to ensure they are achieving their best. We are fortunate to have two highly skilled high school English teachers on our boarding staff, who have provided invaluable support with assignments, in addition to the regular tutors from the A Team. This extra assistance has made a significant impact, and we sincerely appreciate the girls’ commitment and proactive approach to managing their academic responsibilities.

Looking ahead, I am pleased to announce that I will be attending the Dubbo Boarding Expo on the 16th and 17th of May. I look forward to meeting with potential new Kambala families and sharing the exceptional Boarding community we are so proud of here at Kambala. Additionally, we will be hosting a social gathering for both current and past Kambala families on Friday, May 16th in Dubbo. Further details will be sent out in due course.

Our Term 2 'In Weekend' is scheduled for the 3rd and 4th of May, and it promises to be an enjoyable and engaging weekend. The entire Boarding House will attend a Sydney Swans game, alongside other exciting activities to mark the beginning of the new term. It is expected that all girls will be in attendance for this event.

With the two-week break approaching, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to all of our families for a Happy Easter. I hope that each of you has the opportunity to spend quality time with your loved ones. As we prepare for the upcoming term, I also encourage you to support your daughters in maintaining healthy sleep habits throughout the break. A well-rested holiday will ensure that they return to school refreshed and ready to tackle the challenges of Term 2.

Wishing you all a wonderful Easter, and I look forward to an exciting and successful Term 2 ahead.

Weekend Recreational Activities

This past Sunday, six of our students had a blast at Plaster Master, escaping the rain for a fun and creative recreational activity. They got their hands messy and painted some truly amazing plaster figures, from adorable bears and bunnies to cool turtles and hippos! It was the perfect way to stay dry and enjoy a colourful afternoon. Great job to all the students for their impressive work!

Boarder Birthdays

We celebrated Holly in Yr 7’s birthday on March 27th, then Charlotte Croker (Yr 8) and Vey (Yr 9) shared their birthdays on March 28th. There were deliveries of cupcakes and beautifully decorated cakes for everyone to share after prep.

Happy birthday also to Jackie H (Yr 11) for April 2nd and to our lovely "Gappie" Eleanor for April 4th.

Saturday Sport

Sports trials for the winter season have concluded and most girls now know their teams and commitments for terms 2 and 3. Please check with your daughter that they have the equipment and uniforms that they need for their winter sport. We highly encourage all girls to participate in a sport each season as a way to have good balance in their school experience. If your daughter has not signed up for a sport and now wants to join, please contact the sports department directly.

Hockey

Frankie J (Yr 11) had a draw in her UNSW Club Hockey match in Weekend 9 at Daceyville.

Country Education Foundation (CEF) Fundraising Drive

Our Head and Deputy Head Boarders are leading the charge in promoting our Boarding charity and are currently embarking on an exciting fundraising drive. In partnership with the CEF Boot Bash month, the girls are actively supporting their charity in “Giving Education Inequality the Boot.”

For many students in rural, regional, and remote Australia, vast distances and financial barriers make access to education a significant challenge. The funds raised from this initiative will provide CEF students with direct financial support to help combat these inequities and give education inequality the boot.

Last week, the girls hosted a successful bake sale, with support from the other prefects, raising over $500 for this important cause. In addition, they organised a fun and engaging boot toss competition on the Tivoli patio, drawing the attention of day girls and encouraging them to get involved in supporting the charity.

The energy and enthusiasm from the Boarding leaders is contagious, and we're proud of their dedication to making a positive impact. Stay tuned for the Easter Egg competition and Boarding Week in May as we continue our fundraising efforts to support CEF students.

Prep

Our Year 10 girls worked incredibly hard in preparation for their English assessment. They've been diving deep into Macbeth, practicing quotes and analysis to sharpen their skills. Their dedication and focus are truly impressive, and we’re confident they did a great job last week! Keep up the fantastic work, ladies!
