From the Principal

What a busy term we have had. It feels like only yesterday we welcomed our new families to Kambala at our Welcome Cocktail Party in late January. Since then, it has been lovely to see our parents and carers coming together to nurture a culture of community, especially with the support of the Kambala Parents' Association. It has also been tremendous to witness new friendships and relationships forming across all student year groups, that many of our girls will treasure well beyond their graduation in Year 12.

Term 1 is a dynamic term as new routines are established and the desire for lifelong learning habits are formed. We give thanks to our teaching staff, especially those new to us, who consistently deliver best practice and inspire our girls to have a sense of self and to be good people of good character. A highlight of the term was Kambala’s acceptance to join the Global Citizen Diploma (GCD) consortium. Designed to complement traditional academic qualifications, the GCD will provide our students with a structured framework to develop and demonstrate skills such as intercultural understanding, ethical leadership, social responsibility and global engagement. As the only school in Australia offering this opportunity, this further develops Kambala’s unique opportunity to develop and nurture a truly global sisterhood.

We have enjoyed many outstanding events across this term, including but not limited to the 2025 Festival of Music. It was a delight to see the girls from Years 5-12 perform with tremendous energy and pride on the glorious stage at the Sydney Opera House. How lucky were we to be able to witness this exceptional performance at such a globally iconic venue! We are very proud of Mr Gene Clark, the Music faculty and our girls in delivering what was a truly outstanding evening of entertainment. Congratulations go to Gurney for winning the 2025 competition.

We have continued to shine in many sporting endeavours, including the IGSA Tildesley Tennis Tournament that saw us rank 3rd in NSW, a truly outstanding result. Given we have no students on tennis scholarships and we are an average sized girl's school, this is exceptional. The Junior and Senior swimming carnivals have been held and the Junior and Senior cross-country carnivals were embraced by all.

We welcomed our boarders (old and new) to a refurbished and refreshed Fernbank Boarding House at the start of Term 1. Over the 2024 Summer holiday break, bathrooms were upgraded, living areas painted and re-carpeted, and contemporary furniture added across all living areas. Every single bedroom was refreshed and it was a delight to witness all the Boarding parents join us at the welcome Boarders BBQ. And we are thrilled to report that everyone has settled well and we have a full Boarding House!

I hope you are all looking forward to a well-deserved break with friends and family over the upcoming school holidays. This time offers a chance for rest, reflection, and rejuvenation, ensuring we return for Term 2 with renewed energy, focus, and enthusiasm.

Looking back at the start of 2025, there is much to be proud of at Kambala. Thank you all for your dedication and contributions in making it such a rewarding and successful beginning to the year.

Wishing you a restful and enjoyable holiday.

Ms Jane Danvers
