Mrs. Debbie Terry

Welcome Back

Hope you all had a lovely Easter break!

Year 4: Decimals, Length and Area, 2D Shape, Data Representation and Addition and Subtraction

Writing: Our VCOP writing focus will be on Vocabulary.

Inquiry: Our Term 2 topic is called Harmony with H2O.

Students will learn about Earth's natural resources and the importance of using them sustainably. They will conduct simple experiments related to the water cycle, desalination, and filtration. Students will explore the problem of plastic pollution in our oceans and consider actions they can take to reduce the amount of single-use plastic they use. They will investigate the importance of rainforests and the unique animals that call the Amazon rainforest home. The students will learn about the processes involved in the water cycle and use this knowledge to create a three-dimensional model to share with visitors at the Harmony with H2O Exhibition.

Education in Faith: One of our primary areas of interest will be First Eucharist as a number of our Year 4 students will prepare to celebrate this Sacrament of Initiation. We will also look into and explore Baptism and stories from the Old and New Testament that involve Water (to link to our Inquiry) including the Story of Creation, Noah and the Ark, Jesus Walks on Water and The Wedding Feast at Cana. We will also explore the Catholic Social Teaching of Preferential Option for the Poor.

Body Bright: Our Term 2 topic is called Positive Relationships

Anzac Day

Over the past week, students have been learning about the significance of ANZAC Day, exploring its meaning and importance in Australian history. They have also had the opportunity to share personal stories about their ancestors and their contributions, bringing a deeper sense of connection and understanding to the learning. It has been truly moving to hear these reflections and witness the students’ growing appreciation for the sacrifices made by those who served.

As a school community, we came together to honour and remember our ANZAC soldiers in a special ceremony led by the Year 3/4s.

Lest we forget.

We're all looking forward to a great Term 2!

Kind regards,

Mrs. Terry and Miss Becc
