Whole School Easter Celebration

To conclude Term 1 we celebrated Holy Week by participating in some rotation activities run by our wonderful Year 6 leaders. Each of the activities focussed on an important day in Holy Week including Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Term 2 Overview

Maths topics and main areas of focus:

Year 3: Fractions, Length, Patterns, Data Representation and Addition and Subtraction

Year 4: Decimals, Length and Area, 2D Shape, Data Representation and Addition and Subtraction

Writing: Our VCOP writing focus will be on Vocabulary.

Inquiry: Our Term 2 topic is called Harmony with H2O.

Students will learn about Earth's natural resources and the importance of using them sustainably. They will conduct simple experiments related to the water cycle, desalination, and filtration. Students will explore the problem of plastic pollution in our oceans and consider actions they can take to reduce the amount of single-use plastic they use. They will investigate the importance of rainforests and the unique animals that call the Amazon rainforest home. The students will learn about the processes involved in the water cycle and use this knowledge to create a three-dimensional model to share with visitors at the Harmony with H2O Exhibition.

Education in Faith: One of our primary areas of interest will be First Eucharist as a number of our Year 4 students will prepare to celebrate this Sacrament of Initiation. We will also look into and explore Baptism and stories from the Old and New Testament that involve Water (to link to our Inquiry) including the Story of Creation, Noah and the Ark, Jesus Walks on Water and The Wedding Feast at Cana. We will also explore the Catholic Social Teaching of Preferential Option for the Poor.

Body Bright: Our Term 2 topic is called Positive Relationships
