Faith Matters at SFX

Dear St Francis Xavier Families,
Easter wishes to all of you.
On Tuesday morning I joined the Year 5/6s who attended the 9:15am mass to pay their respects to Pope Francis. Prior to leaving I chatted with them about Pope Francis' legacy and what would occur moving forward regarding the election of a new pope. They listened with interest, shared comments and asked several questions - particularly about the election process and the workings of the conclave.
Pope Francis was a beloved leader who dedicated his life to spreading Christ’s message of love, peace, and compassion. His unwavering commitment to the poor, the environment, and global unity will continue to inspire us all. May his example of humility and faith guide our hearts.
There were a couple of very special events at the end of last term and I have been impatiently waiting to share them with you.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Congratulations to the Year 4 students who received Reconciliation for the first time.
It has been wonderful to note the application and curiosity demonstrated by our candidates as they deepened their knowledge and understanding of making choices, being forgiven and forgiving others. Some of them even instigated conversations with me outside of the classroom wanting to share their knowledge or ask questions. A huge thank you to Mr Brendan, Miss Debbie and Fr Chinua for the way in which they have facilitated the children's learning.
Easter Rotations
At the end of the term, our Year 6 School Leaders created an Easter Rotation. The purpose of the rotation was for the children to experience the events of Holy Week and participate in an associated activity. What an impressive effort - we definitely have some budding, highly skilled future educators amongst us. The rotation sessions demonstrated careful planning, organisation and creativity. I am told the leaders also chose to use their own time during school breaks and outside of school hours. Thank you to the rest of the Year 5/6s who assisted in supporting the leaders during the rotations. Our Year Prep, 1, 2, 3 and 4 students enjoyed the sessions very much.
Community Support Frankston Appeal
What a wonderful effort from our school community. Your donations and Zooper Dooper funds raised a very generous $459! We look forward to the proceeds going to several worthy causes.
May the Lord's blessings be upon you.
