5/6L

Ms Lisa

Welcome Back to Term 2!

It's been a fantastic (albeit short) week back at school after what I hope was a fun and relaxing Easter Break. We have hit the ground running in 5/6L, and there are so many amazing things planned for the weeks ahead. Here are just a few of the fabulous things we've got to look forward to this term...

Inquiry & Education in Faith - Wildlife Warriors

In Inquiry this this term, we are focusing on conservation and sustainability. This will be complimented perfectly by our studies in Faith, where we will be looking at the Catholic Social Teaching of: Care for Our Common Home. This unit also comes with a couple of very important dates for your calendar!

  • In Week 7 (Thursday the 5th of June), we will be heading to Melbourne Zoo for an excursion to help us better understand both conservation, and animal adaptations that help them to survive in the ever-changing environment.
  • In Week 10 (Friday the 27th of June), we will be throwing open the doors for our Sustainability Showcase, inviting all families in to view the incredible work the students have done throughout the term.

Stay tuned for more information on these fabulous events closer to the dates.

Interschool Sports

This term the Grade 5/6 students will be taking on other local schools in some friendly soccer and netball competitions. Operoo notices will go up before each event, and I'll also send home notifications on Seesaw. These are the dates that are currently scheduled, though it's important to note that these are subject to change:

  • Week 4 May 16th - vs Frankston Primary (Operoo / No Bus - walk down)
  • Week 6 May 30th vs Frankston East (Operoo / Bus required)
  • Week 8 June 13th Lightning Premiership (Operoo and Bus required)

Reading - Bloom Ball Project

As well as our regular reading groups, this term we are going to be working on a Bloom Ball project once a week. Bloom Balls are creative ways to display and showcase our learning, with each panel representing a different reading comprehension strategy. Students are creating their panels all about our class text, Wandi
