What's on in PLC2
The students in PLC2 have been learning more about different ways to communicate for different purposes using their voice or Augmentative and Alternative Communication AAC systems or through giving a yes or no head response.
The students are encouraged to give opinions, make choices or requests, ask questions and make statements. This could be about a specific activity or an independent expression.
Everyone has an opportunity to have their say across the day as well as letting others have a chance to say something. We gather lots of opinions about the book of the week, the things we taste in cooking, swimming, library, familiar people and outside activities. We learn about what things each student likes in response to simple questions and using specific Pragmatic Organisation, Dynamic Display PODD pages to assist them with giving answers. We make predictions about our Science experiments and ask students what things they would like to learn more about at school.
The students had the opportunity to select a candidate they wanted to vote for in the Student Leaders elections and we have practised using some of the language required to Be Safe at school as part of our Positive Behaviour Support PBS expectations. Below are the students in PLC2 in action.
