Harmony Day Shared Lunch | Pre-Primary and Year 1

As we continue to sizzle in the autumn heat, we hope you are staying cool and safe! We are gearing up here in Primary for an exciting few weeks to end the term. With our 2- and 3- Way Conferences about to commence, it promises to be a great chance to connect, learn, and grow together.

We are also looking forward to our Primary Easter Service on Tuesday 8 April – a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and reflect with our community.

Don't forget next week we have Purple Day - just a gold coin donation to get involved, raising money for a good cause. With Assembly today and Coffee Morning next week, there are lots of opportunities to come together as Term 1 enters its final weeks.

This morning, we had the Year 4 Assembly where all the Year 4 classes came together to create a wonderful play for the rest of the Primary School to watch and enjoy. The main topic was How We Express Ourselves and how to share our ideas. Well done to all the risk-takers who spoke in the Assembly. It was a very entertaining play to watch. Well done to all the Year 4s who worked hard to put it together!

At the Swimming Carnival, lots of students worked hard in races, as well as being a risk-taker and having fun in the novelties. Even when they were not in the races, they tried their hardest to compete in the games. This morning it was great for all the performances from the Swimming Carnival to be acknowledged. The House Reveal was a highly creative and inspiring way of showing which House won the Swimming Carnival. We want to congratulate all the runners-up and champions, as well as all the Houses that tried their absolute best!

A Celebration of Inclusion and Diversity

At our school, inclusion and diversity are not just concepts we acknowledge on special occasions—they are part of our everyday values. We strive to foster cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home, from the traditional owners of this land to those who have arrived from all corners of the world. By embracing inclusion and diversity in our learning, we gain a deeper understanding of how people from diverse backgrounds equally belong and contribute to our nation’s rich tapestry.

On Tuesday, our Pre-Primary students brought this learning to life through their Who We Are unit of inquiry, connecting their classroom discussions to the wider community celebration of Harmony Day. Students and families contributed dishes representing their cultural heritage. They were joined by our Year 1 students as special guests, making the event even more meaningful. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students and staff to come together, celebrate diversity, and appreciate the many flavours and traditions that make up our collective identity.

Thank you to all the families who provided delicious dishes and supported this special shared lunch.

Top Shot Tennis

We are thrilled to announce that we have successfully obtained a government grant for sporting schools focused on tennis. Over the past three weeks, our Year 4 students have had the pleasure of working with Darren, Jack, and a fantastic team of coaches from Top Shot Tennis. They have been learning skills such as the ‘donkey drop’ serve, forehand, and backhand. By the end of the year, 20 students from Years 3 and 4 will have the chance to participate in a carnival. We are excited for a year filled with great tennis!

City of Armadale Library Incursion

This week, our Pre-Primary students had a special visitor—Rita from the City of Armadale Libraries! She came to introduce the Ripper Nippers program and share the exciting activities available at our community libraries.

Rita delighted the children by reading a wonderful story and also spoke to families about Rhyme Time and Story Time, fantastic programs available at City of Armadale Libraries, designed to make reading fun and engaging for young learners.

The students were especially excited at the thought of getting their very own library card, giving them access to a world of books, stories, and adventures. As a special treat, each child also received a Little Nippers Pack to take home. We encourage families to visit their local library and take part in these enriching programs.
