Term 1, Week 10
What a wonderful start to 2025 we’ve had in Year 1/2! We’ve really settled into our daily routines and have shared many special learning milestones in our classrooms. Our students have been doing wonderfully in Literacy, Numeracy, and Inquiry learning. As part of our Inquiry unit this term, we went on an exciting excursion to the ACMI at Federation Square. The children had the opportunity to explore different interactive exhibits in the ACMI museum of film and animation. The highlight of the excursion was when our Year 1/2 BPS students were given the opportunity to star in their very own movie, with the help of the Green Screen experts at ACMI!
To showcase the learning we've done throughout our Inquiry unit, "How do I use technology?", we’re excited to invite you to our Year 1/2 Movie Screening, featuring our work with Green Screens this Term. Parents and caregivers are invited to the MPR this Friday 4th April at 9:15am in the MPR.
What an amazing (and busy) Term we have had… We saw great effort and determination from our students during the Whole School Cross Country event, with many students putting in hard work during PE lessons! The Holi festival was a blast and the students had so much fun throwing colour at their teachers (even if some of the Year 1/2 teachers were dressed in Hazmat suits- very cheeky!) We made delicious veggie Pizza’s in Patch and tried new herbs from our Patch Garden. Our Free Dress Day had a great turnout, and we really appreciate the generous chocolate donations made for the school’s Easter Hampers. Please be sure to buy some raffle tickets to be in the draw to win lots of chocolate for this Friday’s assembly!
We’re also excited to wrap up the term with celebrations for Chinese Day on this Thursday, April 3rd. Parents, grandparents and special people are invited to our Chinese New Year Art Expo which will be held in classrooms from 2:45- 3:25pm this Thursday. A reminder that students can dress up for Chinese Day or wear red.
Important Dates for the rest of Term 1:
Looking Ahead to Term 2: Next term, our Inquiry unit will focus on “How are we connected?” with a Geography focus. Please note that during weeks 10 and 11 of Term 2, the Year 1/2 students will be attending swimming lessons. Be sure to check Compass for more details.
Wishing you all a safe and relaxing Easter break!
