Welcome back to term 2. I hope that you enjoyed the school holidays and the special Easter celebrations. It was lovely to holiday with my whole family in Echuca/Moama, enjoying the sunshine and fresh country environment. The beautiful Autumn weather has continued for our first week back, adding to the warmth and excitement of catching up with students and colleagues.
Today we gathered as a school community to commemorate ANZAC day. Our School Leaders and FIRE Carriers led the ceremony which included the Ode, Prayers, Raising the flags and the National Anthem. Our school Choir sang 'Here You Lie' which they will also sing tomorrow morning at the Mitcham Anzac Day Dawn Service. I hope that you can join us at the Mitcham Memorial at 6am tomorrow morning.
Next week we will have our first Open Day for the Term. Please let your neighbours, family and friends know so they can come along and see all that we have to offer at our wonderful school. Tours will commence at 9am on Friday, 2 May. If your child is ready to start school next year then please send in your applcation for enrolment. Places are filling fast.
Our St John's Social media is a great way to stay up to date with our latest news and what's happening each week. Please follow us on Instagram and Facebook so that you can share our posts with your families and friends.
ST JOHN'S SCHOOL SOCIAL MEDIA
With deep sadness, we acknowledge the passing of Pope Francis. He was a guiding light of hope and compassion whose words and deeds touched lives across the world. Throughout his papacy, Pope Francis followed in the footsteps of Jesus, offering love, dignity, and support to the poor, the homeless, refugees and asylum seekers, the sick, the imprisoned, and all who were marginalised. His unwavering empathy and dedication to social justice inspired countless individuals, regardless of their faith or background. In the final week of his life, Pope Francis made a poignant visit to a prison in Rome — a powerful reflection of his lifelong mission to stand with those on the margins. As a leader in Catholic Education his words and actions were an inspiration. He was a steadfast champion of human dignity and a passionate advocate for the rights of Indigenous peoples. On Tuesday afternoon, the St John’s school community came together to honour his life and reflect on his legacy. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Have you ever wondered about what we do at Marathon Club? St John’s Marathon Club starts at 7:45 in the morning and finishes at 8:30am on Wednesday. Marathon Club is fun because you get to hang out with your friends and have a good time. It’s good for your health and it helps you with your fitness. It is a great way to exercise…and can prepare you for cross country as well. You also get a great breakfast of toast and milo. On your toast you can have butter, jam or vegemite!!
Every Wednesday, (weather permitting!) we walk or run up to Halliday Park with Ange and Mel and do as many laps as we can before returning to school for breakfast made by Lipo. It’s only $10 to help pay for the breakfast for the term. There’s also a member’s t-shirt that you can buy for $10 to wear while you are running.
(You can change into your school uniform before school starts.)
We’d love to see you in Term 2!
Love from The Marathon Club.
What did the picture do to end up in jail?
Nothing. He was framed!
