The high calling of Love

What does it mean to love someone? Who do you love? Sometimes it seems easy to love people but, at other times, loving is not easy. Is there someone that you find difficult to love? Since God loves us so much, we are called to love God and other people.

As we navigate a world that where conflict and war are ever more present, we reminded of the Catholic Social Teachings in order to ensure the dignity of each individual and to maintain the right to live free from harm, hunger and hostility.

What are the principles of Catholic social teaching Australia?

The four most important principles of Catholic Social Teaching are: human dignity, the common good, subsidiarity, and solidarity. These four are permanent or perennial; they are valid always and everywhere.

Why is human dignity so important?

Respect for the dignity of the human person is the bedrock of all Catholic social ethics. We believe that each person is created in the image and likeness of God and is endowed with freedom and responsibility. Hence each and every person is willed into existence by God and is of inestimable worth. Each person reveals something of God’s self; there are no spare or disposable people. Furthermore, nothing a person might do or that might be done to them can deprive them of their human dignity. The claims that human dignity makes on others can be understood as human rights. They continue to exist even if they are not respected.

My loving Lord, You have given everything to me and ask for everything in return. Please help me to understand Your perfect love and to choose it with all my might. I do love You, dear Lord. Help me to love You with all that I am. Jesus, I trust in You.

It may be a time that we turn to Mary the mother of Jesus during this month of the Rosary.

Praying the Rosary allows us to be more present in the moment and to seek solace in the unity that it brings. People worldwide use the Rosary as a mantra to seek peace, find comfort and know that what they share in prayer, communication with Mary, is a means of coming to one with all human kind.

If you would like to pray the Rosary with your family the following link is very helpful:

Dear Lord

We pray for a bright and just shared future for all who call Australia home.

We ask that Your grace of acceptance and compassion will guide us.

Let the Creator Spirit lead our journey with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples of this land.

May we share Your Spirit more deeply; celebrate the gifts You have given us.

Help us appreciate true harmony and peace just as our Old People did;

Keep us strong, make us resilient and remember us in this time.

Now is an opportunity to change our Nation’s history for the better.

Walk with us as we write a new chapter together and may we be one in Your love.

Amen.
