Congratulations to Seb C on his 2nd place medal in the discus. Seb will go on to represent Derinya at the state championships on November 1st! Well done!

Division Girls Basketball

On Tuesday October 17th the girls Grade 5/6 Basketball team played in the Northern Peninsula Division Finals. The girls had to win all 3 games to advance to the next stage. In the first game they defeated Boneo Primary School 28 – 6. Game 2 followed a similar script, defeating Balnarring Primary School 31 – 6. The 3rd game was always going to be the toughest against a strong team from Benton’s Junior College. With 4 minutes to go the opposition coach called a timeout with Derinya leading 13 – 11. From that point on the girls were unstoppable., pulling away to win 20 – 11 in a tremendous display of teamwork.

The girls will now advance to the Regional Finals on November 2nd which is only one step away from defending our state title from last year.
