Playground Rules
We have some new school playground rules to share with you.
These rules have been created by the students.
Each class discussed how we could make our playground safe and friendly for everyone.
We came up with lots and lots of really important ideas.
The SRC met to look at these ideas and discussed which were the best ones for our school.
We decided that we should only have a few because if you have too many it is hard to remember!
Here are the final playground rules for our school:
- Be kind and respectful to each other
- Include others in your games
- Use sports equipment responsibly (don't kick balls over the fence or onto a roof and put equipment away when you have finished with it)
- Be an upstander by standing up for others and calling out inappropriate behaviour (you could tell them to stop, say positive things about people, help someone who is hurt, smile at someone who is sad, stand up for someone who is being teased, don’t spread rumours, tell an adult what you saw and be kind)
- Keep hands, feet and objects to ourselves
- Care for our environment and keep our playground tidy
- Play safely and keep away from out of bounds areas (remember to keep your shoes on!)
- Check with a teacher on duty before you go into sick bay (sometimes the teacher on duty can help you if it is not too serious)
Each class will have a poster in their room as a reminder of how we all behave on the playground so that everyone can feel safe and happy.
