Denise's Message

Dear Families,

Remembrance Day

Saturday 11th November is Remembrance Day.

On 11 November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after four years of continuous warfare. With their armies retreating and close to collapse, German leaders signed an Armistice, bringing to an end the First World War.

As a mark of respect to those who have died and suffered, Australians are encouraged to pause at 11 am to observe one minute’s silence and remember those who died or suffered for Australia's cause in all wars and armed conflicts.

On this day we also take a moment to pray for all people involved in conflict throughout our world, we pray that they will find a way to peacefully resolve their differences and to bring safety and freedom to all.

Yr 3/4 Camp

We had many very excited Year 3/4 children head off on Thursday morning to Safety Beach for their 2-day camp. There were some nervous children but not a tear was shed as they packed their bags in the buses and jumped on board but I can't say the same for a few of our parents who did shed a tear or two.

The school camp program is an important part of the learning program for each child in our school. I know they will come back with many fabulous stories of all the fun they had but also very tired bodies in need of a good night's sleep!

Swimming Program

Our Swimming program begins next week and all children are expected to take part. It is important you ensure every piece of your child's clothing is labelled and that they bring a waterproof bag to put their wet towel and clothes in.

Families are welcome to attend the program but need to make their own way there. The lessons will take place at Elite Swimming, 50 Flemington St, Travancore. Please check with your child's teacher for their lesson time.

Evacuation Procedure

On Wednesday 15th November we will be holding an Evacuation Drill as part of our Emergency Management Procedures. In chatting with your child about this please remind them that it is a drill and that we are all safe. Practicing such drills is important for our schools so that in the event of an emergency, all staff and children know what to do and how to remain safe.

Returning in 2024

A form will be sent home asking all families to confirm their child's return to St Michael's in 2024. We have had many inquiries for places at our school in 2024 so it is important for us to know if we have any vacancies available.

You will receive this note via Operoo and I ask you to respond as soon as possible.

2024 School Fees

Please find below the school fees and levies for 2024. The school has tried to keep costs as low as possible but has had to increase fees and levies in some areas. A reminder to families with a Health Care Card to contact the office regarding access to our Concessional Fee and Levy program.

All students attending St Michael's Primary School have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.
