We wish them all the best for their future as they end their school journey.

The new MEB 12's take up the mantle of Seniors marked by a number of indicators including their room selection, an opportunity to drive to Boarding, and of course, studying for the 2024 HSC examinations. We wish them well as they begin this part of their school journey.

Boarder Driving

Driving a car is regarded as a privilege that is afforded only to Year 12 Senior students.

We ask parents of Year 12 Boarders who wish to drive a car to Boarding to email a request to the Head of Boarding in the first instance. A copy of theDriving Policy/ Application form is available from the Boarding Office. It can also be downloaded from the Mount Erin Website.

A car must not be brought to MEBS before the application form has been received, approved, and signed by the Head of Boarding.

Duty of Care

The term Duty of Care is a legal obligation from tort law that basically describes a legal obligation. Many policies and procedures found in Boarding Schools are in place to provide Duty of Care. A Boarding student is by legal contract in the care of Boarding Staff until he/ she returns to the direct care of the parent/ guardian or carer. When approving leave, parents may provide a host who acts on their behalf/absence to transport or care for the Boarder when on the approved leave. In this situation, the boarder is technically still under the care of Boarding Staff who may or may not approve the leave or approve of the host on the basis of safety/ concern for duty of care. MEBS does not approve party leave or unofficial school gatherings.

Nagle/ Rice House Crests

The final development of the two House Crests has now been realised. They have recently been blessed at the Term 4 Boarders' Mass by Bishop Mark Edwards and placed at the entrance of the respective House. Congratulations once again to the designer, Year 9 Boarder Celeste Crain. Many thanks to Mr. John Gowland, KCC Administrative Services for his outstanding digitalization of Celeste's original pencil drawings.

It was great to have St Francis Student leaders visit MEBS for a Boarding leadership discussion and dinner meeting on Wednesday 1st of November. This was a great opportunity for our leadership group to be involved in providing an opportunity to speak publicly and to be ambassadors of Mount Erin and their respective Colleges.

Joining the students from SFDC was Principal Antoinetta Iannelli and Head of Boarding, Mr. William Morton.

To begin their leadership role, MEBS leaders participated the Australian Boarding Schools' Association initiative - Boarding Student Leaders' Conference joining Boarding students from around Australia, New Zealand, and other parts of the world.
