Memorandum of Understanding for Steiner Stream

We ask all parents/carers of our students in our Steiner Stream to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on enrolment to ensure we have a shared understanding.

Steiner Curriculum Parent Payments

Joining our Steiner Stream is a financial commitment to make parent payments each year for the resources and extra-curricular activities specific to Steiner Education.  There will be a Parent Payment letter sent to families in Term Four explaining the fee structure and payment options.   If you have any questions about this commitment please contact the school to speak with David. 

Enrolment into the Steiner Program at Thornbury Primary School is a commitment from Foundation until the end of Class Six. 

TPS Steiner is a holistic package with essential components which are non-negotiable. 

These include:

• Craft lessons
• Music and orchestra
• Requirement to learn a string instrument (Violin, Viola or Cello) from the beginning of Class Three
• Morning Circle. This is an important part of a holistic Steiner curriculum whereby students participate in singing, reciting poetry and movement activities.
• Mindful Movement with Mirella
• Participation in class plays from Class One - Class Six

Some options for supporting the Steiner learning at home include:

• Maintaining healthy rhythm and routine in the home life
• Encouraging a healthy diet and active lifestyle
• Promotion of creative, self-directed play
• Build on the emphasis nature and the outdoors, and discourage the use of indoor electronic stimulation.
