  • Respectful Relationships through problem solving and decision making to build self-esteem and resilience.
  • Fine motor manipulation skills.

Play-Based Learning in 2023

Evidence shows that play can support learning across physical, social, emotional and intellectual areas of development. This will also help to gently ease your child into the school setting.

Aboriginal Culture

We are committed to incorporating Aboriginal history, knowledge and culture in our classrooms. We have a strong focus on encouraging our students, staff and community to demonstrate Deadly behaviours through our I Am Deadly - Marramb-ik Deadly statements.

T.I.M.E. Program

T.I.M.E is the Thornbury Instrumental Music Experience. Our students experience a vibrant, relevant and dynamic musical experience. The objective is to develop and strengthen the enjoyment and understanding of music – to help children realise their potential by providing opportunities for creativity and expression of feelings and ideas through music.

We offer a broad and engaging range of musical experiences including orchestras, choirs, Spicy Semitone (pop band), to name a few of the many ensembles our musicians may work with.

Supporting learning at home

Having conversation at home about the things your child does at school is a great way to support their learning at home.

Activities such as encouraging children to write cards to family members on birthdays, cooking together, making opportunities to count and discuss collections of things, and of course enjoying books together are all great ways to support the learning we do at school.
