Welcome to a busy Term 4!

Here is what is coming up.......

Swimming Carnival

Our Tallebudgera State School swimming carnival is on Tuesday 5 December at Somerset College. This is a great day for our students in Year 3 - 6, who will be bused to and from the venue. This day caters for students of all swimming ability. There will be fun novelty races, 25m races and the 50m championship races for the strong swimmers. The day is broken into two sessions with the Year 5 - 6 students from 9:00am -11:30am and the Year 3 - 4 students from 12:00pm - 2:00pm. Parents and carers are welcome to attend.

Next week our students in Year 3 - 6 will be given the opportunity to nominate for any of the championship races (50m).  These championship races are for students who have been training in their chosen strokes and would like to trial for our school team and age champion.

The strokes are butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Students that don’t want to race in the championship races will be given the opportunity to race in the 25m and the novelty races. Any students that would like to nominate for any distance events (200m, 200IM, 400m Free, 400IM) for next year's Oceanic Carnival, will need to submit an official time from “Results Central”.

We use this carnival to select our swim team for next year's Oceanic swimming carnival, which takes place around week 4 in term 1.

Prep - Year 2 Learn to Swim Program

In week 9 our Prep to Year 2 students will be participating in their Learn to Swim program. This is a four day program consisting of four 40 minute lessons. The students are evaluated on their confidence and swimming ability on their first day, then placed into their respective groups to work on developing their swimming ability and confidence.

Surf Safety Talk Prep - Year 3

On Monday 27 November our Prep to Year 3 students will be participating in our Surf Life Saving Qld surf safety talk at school. This is a free program run by Surf Life Saving Qld which provides students with vital surf and water safety messages. This is a great reminder for our students about water safety leading into the Christmas school holidays.

Year 6 Surfing Day

Our Year 6 students are will be participating in their annual Surfing Day on Thursday 7 December. This takes place down at Currumbin Alley where the students will take part in a 1.5 hour learn to surf session. Please keep a look out for notes on Qparents.

Friday Sport Year 5 and 6

Our Year 5 and 6 students have begun their Friday sport interhouse challenge. Every Friday the students head out from 2:00 - 3:00pm to challenge the other houses in Oztag, touch football, basketball, dodgeball and tchoukball (a game the year 5 students have played this year). The aim of Friday sport is to give the students an opportunity to work in the house groups as a team, along with developing their game play skills. This is also a great way for our students to participate in some healthy competition. Friday sport is provided to the students free of charge and is facilitated and officiated by our great teaching staff.
