Year 5 students from Nowra Christian School will be undertaking an education tour of the national capital from 15 - 17 November 2023. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
If your child has achieved 100 Merits this year, please present their 10 large Merit certificates to the front office by the end of Week 6, Friday 17 November. Thank you.
The Christian Leadership Program is an initiative that aims to grow students in their knowledge of Jesus while learning practical skills for following and serving Him.
Students who participate in the program will be involved in training seminars throughout the year where they will learn what it means to live out their faith and be people who lead through serving.
Over the course of the year, students will have the benefit of hearing from speakers who will encourage them to think about their faith and give them practical tools to share this faith with their communities. Students will be given leadership opportunities to encourage them to put their learnings into practice. Participating students will also benefit from developing supportive relationships across the year levels.
If you are:
Interested students from the current Years 5-9 classes will have the opportunity to apply by completing the application form.
Teachers are also able to nominate students for the program.
Students in year 6-9 who have been participating in this program for 2023 will given the opportunity to continue their involvement to continue to build on what they have learned this year.
There are limited spaces available in each year group. Students will be selected based on their application form and an informal interview with the Principal and/or relevant Head of School and one of the chaplains. This is a call out to the beautiful and creative school community to ask for any volunteers who might like to help with some costume sewing for our upcoming production of 'The Little Mermaid'. This is scheduled to be performed in March next year. Payment in love, respect and possibly chocolates. If this sounds like an opportunity you could be involved in please email Shannon Rebel at shannonrebel@ncs.nsw.edu.au.
This note concerns all families whose children leave school from the Southern MPC gate in the afternoon.
Students are now leaving from the side of the MPC Gallery and walking along a path to an outer gate on Old Southern Rd. The main reasoning behind this was to ensure the children’s safety as they left the school. We ask if all parents who are collecting their children from this gate enter into the school grounds and wait for their children under the MPC gallery. This ensures our duty of care in handing the children over to their parents and avoids any young children waiting or lost beyond the vision of a teacher or carer outside of the gates.
The gates are opened by our maintenance team each afternoon on bell time. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
