Principal's News
Our new newsletter format is here! We listened to your feedback, and acknowledged that some of you found the newsletter to be overwhelming and difficult to navigate. We hope that this new format will help you to access important school information more readily.
It’s been another very full and busy week at HR. Highlights over the past week have included the Science Fair, the choir’s performance of ‘You Raise Me Up,’ the Year 5/6 Bee Day celebration, our cross country team’s performance at Districts, the Pink Bun fundraiser at Friday’s canteen and the class concerts held during Music specialist times.
On the downside, there are many ill students and staff in our community at the moment. As always, we ask you to keep your children at home if they are unwell. School is no place for children when they are sick; they just want to be in the comfort of their home. Please reiterate with your children that they should sneeze into the crook of their arm, dispose of tissues promptly and regularly wash or sanitise their hands. We are struggling to source relief staff at the moment so we all need to play our part to minimise illness.
A Message from Andrew for Parents
Andrew asks that parents wait at the crossing until he signals for you to cross the road by sounding his whistle. This provides positive modelling for your children and ensures safety for all. He has witnessed some near misses recently so it is vital that we all take care around roads and set an example for our children.
Bully Zero Incursion
Next Monday, June 3rd, Bully Zero will run workshops at Holy Rosary centered around bullying. This program forms one part of our proactive approach to bullying. The Prep to Year Four students will participate in workshops which focus on the different types of bullying, provide students with strategies to respond to bullying situations and provide information on how students can identify and understand the role of the bystander.
The Year 5/6 students will participate in a workshop that focuses on resilience, where students are supported and empowered to recognise the impact of their choices on themselves and others.
Please ensure you have accepted the permissions on Operoo to allow your child to attend. If the permission is not received your child will not be able to attend the workshop.
Defibrillator
Did you know that Holy Rosary School has a defibrillator? It is located just outside the sickbay. And our staff are First Aid trained. Last week and this week we have been undertaking training in using the defibrillator.
School Uniform
Please check that your child is wearing the correct uniform. On enrolment at Holy Rosary you agreed to follow the uniform policy and we ask you to honour this agreement by ensuring your child has the correct items to wear. Socks should be plain navy or white and all children should have black school shoes. Please note that nail polish and acrylics do not meet uniform expectations.
Beanies
If you have purchased beanies, please collect them from the office.
King’s Birthday
Monday 10 June is a public holiday in honour of the King’s birthday. Holy Rosary School and TeamKids will be closed on this day.
Biggest Morning Tea
Did you realise we are holding a morning tea to raise funds for cancer? This event will take place on Friday 28 June, the last day of this term. The event has been initiated by Cat and supported by the Learning Support Officers. They are seeking small items to include in their lucky door prize. If you can support this, please send donations to the office marked to Cat’s attention. Suitable items include gift vouchers, personal items including hand creams, nail polishes, fragrances, styling products, chocolates, earrings, scarves, beanies, candles etc.
Have a wonderful week.
Christine
