Hands on Learning
Our Hands on Learning program has resumed after a brief hiatus in 2023. The popular program, led by Mr Wright, had more than 30 applications from students, referred by their teachers, who were eligible to be accepted into the program. Of those, only 9 were fortunate to be selected. Running each Friday, for one full day per week, the program offers students an opportunity to work on a variety of different projects outside the classroom.
Once the students settled into a routine, their focus shifted to the many projects undertaken throughout the semester. Some of those included:
- Volunteering with Blazeaid, to assist with the removal of fences in fire-affected areas
- Pruning overhanging branches at Beaufort Primary school
- Weeding and tidying garden beds within the school grounds
- Cleaning the Hands on Learning shed to allow for an undercover workspace during inclement weather
- Restoration and construction of display cabinets in the General Office foyer, created specifically for displaying students work
- Dismantling an old shed within the school grounds
The HoL team are very proud of their achievements and looking forward to completing many more projects before the semester is done. Watch this space for future updates!
