Poetry Slam

On Tuesday of this week, we welcomed guest SLAM poet, Philip Wilcox, to our school. Phil presented two sessions to students, during which he shared personal experiences that became poems, one of which involved mistaking sharks for dolphins; fortunately, all ended well! There was much audience participation, including each student writing an ‘Everybody Knows…’ line, some of which were collated into a poem. This process revealed that deep down, we are all poets!

Everybody Knows...

A Scroll Poem by the Students of BSC

Everybody knows that poetry is the language of the gods… and ordinary people.

Everybody knows the two people who are together, but won’t admit it.

Everybody knows he is guilty, hence, his pants are on fire!

Everybody knows that you get what you get – so don’t get upset!

Everybody knows that it was never really the dog’s fault.

Everybody knows, milk before cereal!

Everybody knows that there are always ulterior motives.

Everybody knows that cheese comes in different colours.

Everybody knows that school holidays SLAP!

Everybody knows death is coming, so why fear it?

Everybody knows that our phones rob us of our sleep, but the radiant and loud blue light is just too irresistible.

Everybody knows that there’s SO MUCH we don’t know.

Everybody knows.
