Dear Parents,
This week, we focus on Reconciliation Week where we highlight the theme of 'Now more than ever!'
National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
This highlights the great need for RESPECT:
… care and respect for country following the footsteps of our Indigenous first people for 60,000 years.
… care and respect for our Indigenous people and the need for truth, treaty and voice.
… care and respect for each other and the need to eliminate racism and promote inclusive, respectful communities all over our great Southern Land.
… care and respect for self and the need for self care and connection to others.
…. care and respect for the stolen generation and subsequent generations.
May we always hold, respect and honour the land our school is situated on and promote inclusivity, respect and belonging.
We explore how this all fits into Laudato Si’ Week, highlighting the need to take action individually and collectively by ‘listening and journeying together’. Listening and journeying are integral components of the ecological conversion that Pope Francis calls each one of us to.
We are proud of all we are doing in our school to promote, highlight and respect our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and ensure our current generation of students will always respect and celebrate our First Nations people.
This Wednesday we invite students to wear colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags and bring a gold coin for the Open the Doors organisation.
As the saying goes, 'Together we are stronger!'
The building project is progressing and I thank all of our community for your patience in this exciting building phase. We continue to strive to ensure there are limited interruptions to learning.
Just a reminder, we will be moving our current Prep students to the library space for the rest of the 2024 school year. We require parent helpers this Thursday from 12pm onwards to assist with the move.
We invite all of our community to our Twilight Open Day on June 5th from 4.30pm to 6pm. Please promote this event to all your friends and potential community members.
We also invite our community to the celebration of the Sacrament of First Eucharist this Sunday at 10am.
Our theme for this week is Kindness and using the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Have a look at the slide show below for ways to spread loving kindness throughout your week.
Yours in Partnership,
Gab
