Victorian State School Spectacul

With excitement, Wheelers Hill Primary School would like to announce that we will be participating in the 2024 Victorian State School Spectacular’s Mass Choir (VSSS).

What is VSSS? Victorian State Schools Spectacular is one of the largest recurring performances in Australia. It is a professionally staged production performed at John Cain Arena to audiences of over 10,000 people. The Spectacular includes a cast of almost 3000 government school students working towards a common goal in a collaborative, competition-free environment. This opportunity offers an invaluable Performing Arts opportunity to Victoria’s government school students which showcases the talent that exists in schools. The resulting 2-3 hour scripted show celebrates a diversity of performance mediums, including choir, dance, vocal, drama and orchestra.

Last week we announced our final 20 students from Grade 5 and 6 that will represent our school. There was an overwhelming interest from over 70 Grade 5 and 6 Choir members which made the selection process a hard decision. Thank you to all those students who showed such an amazing effort during the selection process. Congratulations to the 20 students who were chosen to represent our school in our first VSSS experience in over 15 years.

Dress-up day to support our Spec team!

We would appreciate our school community’s support by participating in a dress-up day to help cover some of the costs. On Thursday 6th June we ask students to dress up as their favourite singer/entertainer or wear bright colours and bring a gold coin donation. At lunch time at 1:10pm on the 6th June, the Junior and Senior Choir will also be performing in the gym for any parents or students that would like to attend.

We are looking forward to a fun and exciting time ahead as the Spec team learn their songs and actions to perform in front of thousands of people on Saturday 14th September at John Cain Arena. It will be televised in December so stay tuned for updates.
