Nude Food Wednesdays

Following the success of our Nude Food Day last year, the JSC have decided to hold weekly Nude Food Wednesdays. We feel that we can make a positive difference by becoming more aware of climate change and pollution, whilst taking ‘action’ and ensuring we have a cleaner and healthier school environment.

Nude Food means: food without excess packaging on it. An option may be to use beeswax wraps or containers instead of glad wrap or plastic wrappers of any kind.

By having a weekly Nude Food Day, we would be reducing the rubbish and plastic that needs to go into bins and sent to landfill. This would also help the natural environment around the school, such as Newport Lakes Reserve.

Please note that students will not get in trouble if they bring plastic wrappers to school. Students from each class who have the most Nude Food Wednesdays, will win an entry into the Gotcha Box, where they will have the chance to be invited to an end of term Special Morning Tea.

If you would like more information about Nude Food, please see this pamphlet:

Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) Food Drive - Wednesday 19th June

The Junior School Council (JSC) are very excited to announce that we will be having a Food Drive on Wednesday 19th of June

NLPS did such an amazing job with this food drive last year, that this year they have offered us a truck to come and collect the items (Yay!).

We would love for you to bring some items from the urgently needed list in the picture below.

The ASRC Foodbank currently provides free groceries to around 600 people every fortnight, most that have no income and no work rights. Around half of them are children, so we thought this was an important and worthy cause for our school to focus on.

In early June you may start to bring in the canned food and give it to your classroom teacher in the lead up to the day .

Many thanks for your support with this worthy cause.

NLPS Annual Working Bee - 22nd June

The Newport Lakes School Council are excited to announce the beginning of a Working Bee Bi-Annual Event for our wonderful NLPS grounds.

Teaming up with the Parents' Club, we invite the NLPS families to assist in maintaining and revamping the school grounds at the end of Term 2.

The event is scheduled for Saturday 22nd June from 10am to 2pm.

Wet Weather cover date Saturday 27th July.

It's a family event, so children are welcome to come along and help out too! It also provides a great opportunity to meet other families from our school community while getting the place in tip top shape.

Bonus! NLPC Fundraising Sausage Sizzle will be held as well.

Free sausages [Halal] for all workers with additional snack, treats and drinks available for purchase to support on-going school programs managed by the Parents' Club.

If we can please have a few minutes of your time to fill out the below questionnaire to prepare for the day! Hope to you see you all there!

This form will close on Wednesday, June 19 at 4PM to allow the managing team time to plan.
