“I thought this would just be very boring and lecture like, but it was excellent. I loved making the pockets with my friends and reading things people like about me. I learnt about stress, to be more body positive, and to stop calling girls names when you're mad. I'd recommend this workshop to others. I hope some of these girls to take this with them forever.”

“This was fun, and all the workshops were excellent. We loved making the envelopes and the six second hug and singing because it was hands-on. We learnt about body-image, consent, stress tips, and that smiling helps others smile. We’d recommend.”

“I thought this would be a productive and fun day which it was. The workshops were excellent, and the best parts were when we wrote notes to each other each other because it lets me know that I'm liked by my friends. I learnt that it's bad to gossip, that men can also feel poorly about their body, and that when you gossip it spreads everywhere. I'd recommend this program as I really enjoyed this lesson, I hope you come back here again!”

“This was fun and relaxing and helpful. All of the workshops were excellent, especially Best of Friends as it helped me learn to cherish friendships, and I loved reading the notes. I learnt about keeping friendships, about relationships, to accept my body, about breathing exercises, and the pledge thing.”

MANCAVE

The Mancave workshops included, Understanding self, Psychological safety -talking about their emotions, Healthy Role modelling- what a healthy man looks like and Confidence &Social Connectedness.

Feedback at the end of the day showed 96% of the students felt it had a good impact on them and 93% said they would recommend the Man Cave to other students.

Samples of student’s comments

'How did meeting our team today impact you?'

"It made me feel like I was important, and helped me relieve that my feelings mattered.

It showed me that people care about my feelings and what I talk about.

By letting me take off the mask.

It had quite a good impact, helping me understand more about others."

'What is the best thing you learned today?'

"The best thing I learned is that men shouldn’t hide from their problems and should feel free to talk about whatever is on their minds.

That you can open up and share you deeper thoughts and trouble with other kids that listen and care.

There are plenty of people that will listen to you.

That its good to express my feelings.

'Why would you recommend this program to other young men?'

"I would recommend this to every young man because its good for them to know that they don’t have to hide from their feeling and that they do matter.

Because it shows opening up is normal and is a powerful thing to do that doesn't show weakness.

So other young men know how to express their mental health and issues.

Cause some young men or men in general need to understand how to open up.

We hope to have a similar Wellbeing Day in 2025 and request that all parents and carer’s support the College by ensuring students attend on the day so they all can benefit from these workshops."
